In the beginning there was an idea: Increase the fertility of its soils – without mineral fertilizers. Thomas Unkelbach, a farmer, has succeeded with self-produced biochar. In a carbonisation plant he burns garden waste, green and shrub cuttings. The biochar obtained in this way is used both in the field and in the cowshed.
