Moist bedding and corrosive ammonia vapours often lead to inflammatory footpad lesions in poultry. The Chamber of Agriculture of Lower Saxony has therefore had biochar tested as a litter additive and speaks of impressive results in its interim report. For example, compared to the control group, the litter remained sharper and drier, the ball of the feet healthier and the biological performance was not impaired. You can read the full report here.
